Oberheim SEM V (Very cool!! Very warm, very retro!) I just finished updating and installing and tinkering. Just didn't feel real to me in my own personal head. I don't know why after the reviews which made similar comments to my comparison with the CS series of the CS80. Alternatively I really wanted to love the JP 8, but after much trying, it has left me cold, as did the Minimoog.

When I first laid hands on it I immediately used it on an intro for a piece I was working on at the time though, and the second oscillator compared to mine really did make it an improvement over my 'real' analogue baby sister (with a shed load of FX - phasers etc which I've always used with the real CS6O). especially for the kind of music you describe making and liking!I'll second this if only because I'm not into any of the others and having used the VI, it really does sound like the VCOs and filters on my CS60 (to the point I would recognise them a mile off and they're identical to the CS80) which I've had for 25 years now, but then again the thing about the big CS series is the user interface and keyboard/ribbon controller, so even that may not be what you'e after. I still love the CS80 though it is long in the tooth.
